This week Forbes Magazine released their list of the top growth cities for 2008. Forbes looks at cities with populations of over $1 million, and then compares population numbers for 2008 vs. those of 2007. “The cities that made the list share similar qualities; more business opportunities, better weather and more affordable housing”. Despite the economic slowdown on a national level, Raleigh, NC has continued to attract newcomers, even if at a slower pace than previous years. On Tuesday the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs announced that the Federal Housing Administration is going to let lenders apply the $8,000 tax credit as a downpayment toward the purchase of a home. Previously buyers would not receive this credit until they filed their taxes after buying a home. This will allow many first-time homebuyers who did not have a downpayment to qualify for a home loan to now be eligible to move forward with a home purchase. This is fantastic news - call me with questions - Tina
