Jewish Community Information!
Welcome to my Jewish Community Information page. As a proud member of
Temple Beth Or Synagogue in North Raleigh, I will be happy to introduce you to all
that the Jewish Community in Wake County has to offer.
When I relocated to Raleigh in 1995, I was delighted to learn that there is a diverse
Jewish population in the Triangle area, always ready to welcome newcomers
with open arms. Some Jews were born and
raised here, while others returned here after
college to live. Many have been
transferred here from the Northeast, California,
Florida and other locations with large Jewish populations with their
jobs.
North Carolina is an attractive place to retire, so we have many transplanted
retirees.
Wake county currently has the second largest Jewish population in North
Carolina
(Charlotte has the largest.) The Raleigh-Cary Jewish Federation currently has a
mailing
list for over 1600 Jewish households in Wake County. However, there is
reason to
believe that there are as many as 5000 Jewish households in our area
and that
they remain unidentified because they do not contact the synagogues or
call the
Federation office to be added to the mailing list.
There are 4 synagogues in Wake County:
Temple Beth Or
(my synagogue) in Northwest Raleigh is Reform.
Temple Beth Meyer in North Raleigh is Conservative.
Sha'arie Israel/Luvavitchin North Raleigh is Orthodox.
Beth Shalom in Cary is Reform.
Other Synagogues in Durham and Chapel Hill:
Beth El in Durham is a Conservative Synagogue.
Judea Reform Congregation is located in Southwest Durham.
Chapel Hill Kehillah is a Reconstructionist Congregation.
